The Salvation Army expects to serve about 500 people at The Harbor Light Center on Thanksgiving Day. TV’s will be tuned to NFL and college football games.

Thanks to great community partnerships, The Salvation Army is serving more people than ever this year.

Blue Door Pub is donating 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to The Salvation Army this year.

“We have the kitchen, we have the people, we have the resources, why not do it?” said Blue Door co-owner, Jeremy Woerner.

About 500 of the meals will be served at The Salvation Army in North Minneapolis, with the rest split among six other locations in the Twin Cities. Blue Door Pub is also providing 75 volunteers to cook the meals, serve them and clean up afterwards on Thanksgiving Day.

Baker’s Square in Roseville also donated 125 pies to The Salvation Army.

Plus, the Minnesota Vikings women are teaming up with the organization Matter to donate 1,770 meal boxes to The Salvation Army, those will be distributed to eight Twin Cities locations on Tues., Nov. 22.

“We are truly blessed by the generosity of our community partners,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “These donations allow us to serve more people and ensure a happy Thanksgiving for those who might otherwise go without.”
