Majors Morrison retire from The Salvation Army
St. Cloud, Minn. – Ordained as Salvation Army officers in 1974, Majors Lee and Melody Morrison will retire from The Salvation Army at the end of the month.
“After our June 26th worship service we will leave St. Cloud. Melody and I enjoyed our time in St. Cloud and the opportunity for ministry. Leaving behind family and friends will not be easy but we are looking forward to retirement in Escanaba, Michigan,” said Major Lee Morrison.
The Morrisons leave behind a great legacy in St. Cloud. They were instrumental in establishing a hot meal program called PhilanthroFeed where local businesses and community volunteers help cook, serve and clean up for a free hot meal each day.
They’ve spent the last four years in St. Cloud and prior to that served in Bismarck, N.D.
They will be replaced by Salvation Army Captains Mike and Cindy Parker. For the past seven years they called Mankato home, but they are familiar with central Minnesota, having served previously in Fergus Falls and Cloquet.
“We really enjoyed our stay in Mankato,” said Capt. Mike Parker. “We’ve truly been blessed to spend so many years here and we’re really going to miss all of our friends and family, but we’re not going far, and looking forward to the challenges St. Cloud has to offer.”
The Parkers will move into their new appointment at the end of June. With the move comes a move in rank, the Parkers are now majors in The Salvation Army.
