Media alert: Coats for Kids distribution

Oct 27, 2015 | by Julie Borgen

Roseville, Minn. – The Salvation Army expects to give away nearly 9,000 coats to families with kids 17 and under. The media is invited to 2024 Lyndale Ave. N. in Minneapolis for photos, video, interviews and live shot opportunities on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., or until supplies run out.

The media can contact Julie Borgen, Twin Cities media relations director for The Salvation Army, at 612-201-6163.

People in Twin Cities donated thousands of gently used coats during the drive, Oct. 5-18.  And thanks to a generous $33,000 matching donation from Alerus Mortgage, plus a KSTP phone bank that raised over $25,000, The Salvation Army was able to purchase thousands of new coats for $15 each, thanks to a partnership with Operation Warm.

Anyone who needs a coat for their child can find details GiveCoats.org, including which location to go to and what identification is required.
