MOST Amazing Race registration $10 through May 7
Call it the event that puts the “fun” in fundraising. For the 10th year in a row, The Salvation Army’s MOST Amazing Race is back. The winning team takes homes $5,000, courtesy of presenting sponsor CenterPoint Energy.
Registration opens May 1. If you act fast, you can save: For the first week only, registration is just $10 per person. After that, it’s $25 each.
The July 25 race is an official Aquatennial event. It begins with a qualifying race in the morning. Afterward, 30 teams of two compete in a four- to six-hour race around Minneapolis that afternoon. The race is a lot like the TV show, with teams completing mental and physical challenges to move on.
In the past nine years, racers have raised over $550,000 for Salvation Army food and housing programs. This year’s goal is $100,000. Here’s how that money helps:
Providing Housing
Tonight more than 1,000 people will sleep in a Salvation Army shelter in the Twin Cities. With a lack of affordable housing, this is a need that will only continue to grow in the coming years.
We provide specialized emergency and permanent supportive housing for youth, for veterans, for seniors and other adults at 15 facilities throughout the metro area.
Our dedicated case managers are a tireless resource for homeless men and women looking to get back on their feet.
Filling Hearts and Stomachs
Each day, we serve nearly 1,400 hot meals to people in the Twin Cities and last year alone, we provided groceries to 82,000 people.
Our eight food shelves around the metro area are busier than ever before, with our guests reporting an increased need for help. We know that one in 10 Minnesotans faces food insecurity on a daily basis.
We also offer three youth-only food shelves that allow them to get food, no questions asked.
Thanks to your support, and that of our 26,000 local volunteers, The Salvation Army is able to serve more than 218,000 people a year in the Twin Cities.
The MOST Amazing Race is another great way to get involved, have fun and make a difference.
