Polaris adds to Rescue and Relief Fleet
Roseville, Minn. – When a disaster strikes, people count on The Salvation Army to respond and do it quickly. Thanks to a generous donation from Polaris, the Army will have four, additional off-road vehicles to help them do just that.
Minnesota-based Polaris is donating a range of utility vehicles with multiple attachments that can lift pallets of water, scoop up debris and deliver food and supplies to disaster survivors. The donations add to the nationwide Polaris Rescue and Relief Fleet.
One of the vehicles in equipped with a set of tires that are designed never to go flat and are virtually indestructible. Another is equipped with a diesel engine that can run a variety of equipment in areas where there is no electricity available.
“The Salvation Army is so grateful to Polaris,” said Col. Robert Thomson, Salvation Army Commander in Minnesota and North Dakota. “When disaster strikes and people are suffering, we go where we are needed most. These vehicles will help us to take on that challenge and fulfill our mission to serve.”

The vehicles Polaris is donating include a combination of a military-grade RANGER HIPPO, two Polaris BRUTUS models and a Polaris M1400. The Army will use the four vehicles across the country, sending them where they are needed most.
Since 2011 Polaris has donated a total of 54 vehicles to The Salvation Army, including 20 recreational ATV’s for the Northwoods Camp in Minnesota. The donations are worth more than $550,000.
