Polaris makes $16k donation for hurricane relief

Roseville, Minn. – Minnesota-based Polaris Industries Inc. has donated 20 generators worth $16,000 to The Salvation Army to help North and South Carolina recover from Hurricane Matthew.
The generators will be used to help provide additional power for Salvation Army mobile kitchens and other equipment.
“Polaris is proud to help support the Salvation Army in this humanitarian mission for those in need after Hurricane Matthew,” said Scott Wine, Polaris’ Chief Executive Officer.
The Salvation Army is still providing food, water and sports drinks, along with emotional and spiritual care, throughout the Carolinas and in Georgia.
“Responding to disasters wherever they occur is a critical component of The Salvation Army’s mission,” said Lt. Col. Lonneal Richardson, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “This generous donation from Polaris Industries will help us do our jobs better and serve even more people.”
Since Hurricane Matthew hit, The Salvation Army has provided the following, with the numbers growing each day:
- 178,600 meals
- 180,000 drinks
- 2,700 food boxes
- 3,230 clean up kits
- Shelter to more than 1,240
- Emotional and spiritual care to more than 7,300
- Nearly 30,000 hours of employee and volunteer time
