Roseville, Minn. – The 88th Annual Academy Awards will be the talk of Hollywood on Sunday, but on Friday, Feb. 26, The Salvation Army is honoring its own stars at The Adult Day Center in Maplewood, Minn.

Salvation Army "Oscar" statuesFor the eighth year in a row, the program will be awarding their own Oscar statues to 30 participants for accomplishments like “Best Dressed,” “Brightest Smile” and “Most Energy.”

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. at the Maplewood Salvation Army at 2080 Woodlyn Ave.

Everyone from staff to caregivers and participants dresses to the nines on this special day. A few tears are common, and sometimes you might hear one of the winners grab the mic and give an acceptance speech.

“It’s all part of making the people here feel special,” said Juliana Chapeau, social service coordinator, adding that the staff looks forward to the event as much as the participants do.

The Adult Day Center is a loving place for adults who need special support during the day. It offers a variety of nursing and personal care services, as well as outings and fun activities, all designed to support the people they serve and give their caregivers a break during the day.

The center currently has openings and is offering a free day of activities to new guests.

The media is invited to attend this fun and festive event. Come experience our own version of the Oscars….we promise this show won’t keep you up late!
