Thielen Foundation and KFAN Radiothon to Benefit Salvation Army, Others

Apr 7, 2020

On Thursday, April 9th, the Thielen Foundation is partnering with KFAN Radio in the Twin Cities to present the Minnesota COVID Relief Virtual Radiothon, to raise needed funds for The Salvation Army Northern Division and three other organizations working hard to provide aid to those affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

The Thielen Foundation, founded by Viking receiver Adam Thielen and his wife Caitlin, has committed $100,000 to support the effort to help families and kids caught in the wake of this outbreak. Their partnership with KFAN (100.3 FM) has resulted in this Thursday’s radiothon event from 6:00am and 6:30pm, designed to share stories, increase awareness and raise money to assist local relief efforts during the pandemic.

Programming will feature Adam Thielen and include call-ins by other Minnesota athletes, coaches, team executives and community leaders. Other organizations that will benefit from the Virtual Radiothon are Second Harvest Heartland, UofM Masonic Children’s Hospital, and MN Disaster Recovery Fund for Coronavirus.

“The Salvation Army has been working overtime to provide assistance to families impacted by the economic fallout COVID-19 has created in our communities,” said Lt. Colonel Lonneal Richardson, commander of The Salvation Army Northern Division. He added that many families cannot carry the burden placed on them from being furloughed or laid off from a job. Requests for food assistance received at Salvation Army service centers have risen as much as 800% in the last two weeks.

“Our resources are certainly being stretched thin, but we remain committed to helping those in need as long as there is a need,” Richardson said. “We are extremely grateful for the support offered by the Thielen Foundation, and through its partnership with KFAN, in order to help as many families as possible.”

Donations are now being accepted at thielenfoundation.org/covid. For more information on The Salvation Army’s effort to provide relief during the COVID-19 crisis, visit salvationarmynorth.org.
