Twin Cities Coats for Kids drive runs Oct. 5-18
Roseville, Minn. – The Salvation Army’s 30th annual Twin Cities Coats for Kids drive starts Monday, Oct. 5 and runs through Sunday, Oct. 18. Donations of new and gently used children’s coats and winter accessories can be dropped off at any metro area Cub Foods, Kowalski’s Markets, or Salvation Army worship and service center. Find the complete list at GiveCoats.org.
Or, your $15 online donation buys a new coat for a child in need. Plus, your financial donations go twice as far this year. Alerus Mortgage and its employees are matching all monetary donations up to $30,000.
“Every year we see more people who need help with coats for their kids,” said Major Jeff Strickler, Twin Cities Commander. “We get calls from teachers who say children are showing up without coats at school. We gave away more than 8,000 coats last year, but still ran out of sizes for some, so your donations truly make a difference.”
KSTP TV is sponsoring the coat drive and will be holding a phone bank to raise money for Coats for Kids on Oct. 8, during all their newscasts.
Coats will be distributed to families who need them on Oct. 29 at 11 metro area locations from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., or while supplies last. They are given out on a first come, first served basis. Locations and details are on GiveCoats.org.
Coats for Kids has helped keep local children warm for the last 30 years, giving away more than 325,000 coats and winter accessories since the program began.
