Roseville, Minn. – Shakopee High School students have won the Warm & Fed Challenge for the 4th year in a row, collecting the most food and winter clothing for The Salvation Army.

They collected 2,901 items for the Army, edging out six other high schools, including: Higher Ground Academy, Anoka, Roosevelt, Patrick Henry, Robbinsdale Armstrong and Minnehaha Academy.

After three straight wins in the Warm & Fed Challenge, Shakopee High School decided to forgo a pep fest with the Vikings, in order to donate a private lunch with Minnesota Viking’s linebacker Chad Greenway to a group of 30 deserving guests.

The group will include Shakopee High School students, Salvation Army youth and families, along with  residents from Rebound Inc. Group Home and representatives from Accurate Home Care.

Greenway will join the group for a private luncheon on Dec. 19 at Avenida Cocina in Minnetonka at 2:30 p.m. Greenway will also be presented with the Vikings 2016 Man of the Year award for excellence in community service.

“Chad has immersed himself in our community ever since he became a Viking in 2006,” said Brad Madsen, Executive Director of Community Relations for the Minnesota Vikings.”While he focuses on his Lead the Way Foundation, which provides life-changing opportunities for ill and physically challenged children, he volunteers for many other charities. Chad also runs a popular 5K called the Greenway Gridiron Gallop that raises money for Minneapolis youth sports programs.”

The Warm and Fed Challenge has raised more than 40,000 items for The Salvation Army since it began in 2013.

“The Vikings and Chad Greenway have been such great supporters of community giving,” said Annette Bauer, Salvation Army Community Relations Director. “Inviting youth and families who have taken advantage of Salvation Army programs just makes this luncheon extra special.”

The Warm & Fed Challenge was created by JD STYLE Group and sponsored by Accurate Home Care.
