As a satellite location for the Channel One Regional Food Bank, we’re able to distribute food to those in need. We’re open Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 120 First St. NE (view map). Participants can come once per month to pick up food, except during the summer months when two monthly visits are allowed.
We offer basic needs services including showers, hygiene kits, housing guides, rental assistance, HeatShare utility assistance, transportation vouchers, and emergency motel vouchers. Our main office is also open to the community for questions about and referrals to other resources in Rochester. A free lunch is served weekdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Worship and Service Center lunchroom located at 20 NE First Ave (view map).
Our guests are welcome to take free bread from our bread cupboard located at 115 NE First Ave. Baked goods are collected from Hy-Vee Crossroads to stock our shelf at 8 a.m. on weekdays.
Our Rapid Rehousing (RRH) program assists families that meet HUD's definition of literal homelessness in finding affordable housing, and counseling them through their rehousing transition. Families pay income-based rent. The program helps families with goals in education, parenting and budgeting with the hope of attaining permanent housing, full-time employment and a more stable family life. Our Castleview Apartments are a permanent, supportive housing complex in Rochester for single adults who are low-income, chronically homeless or disabled. The facility offers 24-hour supervision, social support services and life-skills education programs. Apartments include a bathroom, closet, kitchen and bedroom. From weekly programming to summer camps, The Salvation Army is dedicated to providing opportunities for area youth to connect with others and grow with encouragement. Our teen ministry and character-building programs meet Tuesday nights from 4 to 7 p.m. We have a variety of music opportunities for youth including a band and private music lessons. At its heart, The Salvation Army is a church. We offer spiritual services and fellowship to equip our church members to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of people in our community. Join us Sunday mornings for breakfast at 9 a.m., Sunday School at 9:15 a.m., a morning worship services at 10:30 a.m. On Thursdays, we offer Bible study at 7 p.m. and a Women's Christian Ministry at 6 p.m. Call 507-288-3663 for more information.
We offer seasonal programs to help with specialized needs throughout the year such as tax preparation, winter coat drive and outerwear vouchers, Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, and holiday toys for children (Toy & Joy Shop).
