Research shows that youth development programs make a tremendous difference, with 65 percent of students improving homework completion and class participation and nearly 60 percent improving classroom behavior.
Our youth development programs provide the support and resources needed for kids to grow up to become thriving adults.
After-school Program | Monday through Thursday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. and Friday from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
While parents enjoy peace of mind at work knowing their kids are safe and supervised after school lets out, kids in first through eighth grade receive tutoring and homework help, participate in arts and crafts, enjoy gym time and other recreational activities, and are served an after-school snack and dinner together.
Character Building Classes | Wednesdays at 4 p.m.
Our character building classes offer the opportunity for kids to develop strong communication and leadership skills, grow their minds, and explore God's Word, all while having fun and connecting with their peers. Classes include:
Junior Soldiers | Sundays at 11 a.m.
The aim of the Junior Soldier program is to ensure that children involved in The Salvation Army have personally received Jesus Christ as their Savior and are discipled in biblical truths, life applications and Salvation Army principles and practices. Junior Soldiers are the youngest members of The Salvation Army.
Summer Camp | June through August
While school is out for summer break and parents are working, our summer day camp offers a safe place for kids of all ages to enjoy fun, engaging activities and nutritious snacks and meals.
Many kids also participate in overnight camps at Western Plains Camp near South Sioux City, Nebraska, where they enjoy outdoor activities like swimming, hiking and archery as well as specialized music, sports and teen camps.
