The Weekly Word -- A Devotion for the Week of October 4

Oct 1, 2021

Your co-worker’s impeccably decorated home. Your neighbor’s lavish Caribbean vacation. Your best friend’s perfect, smiling family. Spend five minutes scrolling images on your social media feed, and you might find yourself succumbing to a bad case of FOMO – fear of missing out.

Jesus, however, offers us a much different perspective. “What I’m trying to get you to do is to not be so preoccupied with getting,” He reminds us, “so you can respond to God’s giving” (Matthew 6:30-33, Msg.). God’s gifts are everlasting; we already have everything we need.
