A Bed and a Meal Can Help Human Trafficking Survivors Rebuild Their Lives

Feb 3, 2020

Because of friends like you, the Bed & Bread Club® is a light on the path to freedom. Your monthly gifts to this vital program help supply the funds needed to give human trafficking survivors a safe place to stay and nourishing meals to eat, easing their efforts to reclaim their lives.

In our own backyard

Human trafficking is a multi-billion-dollar criminal industry that denies freedom to more than 40 million people – mostly women and children – around the world. This form of modern slavery is right here in our own backyard at hotel laundry facilities, casinos, restaurants, nail salons, massage parlors and truck stops.

That fact surprises many Americans who believe human trafficking only occurs in developing countries. But more sex traffickers are arrested in Cook County than anywhere else in the United States with women between the ages of 15-24 being the most targeted victims.

Why don’t the victims leave?

Human trafficking victims can’t simply “walk away” from their captors because they have nowhere to go and no income to buy food and other necessities. Traffickers provide everything, including drugs to keep them addicted and dependent.

Rebuilding a life that has been systematically broken, especially at the hands of someone who initially had offered hope and love, takes time. These survivors not only need a home, a job and a means to support themselves, they also need to restore their sense of self-worth and their ability to trust others.

We offer a way out

Your monthly gift to the Bed & Bread Club helps supply the funds needed to give survivors a safe place to stay and nourishing meals to eat, allowing them to focus on reclaiming and rebuilding their lives.

With the help of our friends and a merciful God, the Bed & Bread Club will continue to offer vital services, so survivors can walk away from bondage and receive the provisions and hope they desperately need.

If you need help or know someone who does, please call or text the National Trafficking Hotline at 1 (888) 373-7888.

Together, we can fight human trafficking and help survivors rebuild their lives.
