Banish the Winter Blues: Enroll in New Kroc Center Classes

Jan 25, 2022

Do the doldrums of January have you feeling restless or blue? Do your cooped-up kids have excess energy to burn? The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center has the perfect solution for you!

Beginning in early February, the Kroc Center will launch four new classes – two for adults and two for kids – that are sure to give you and your family some much-needed spring in your step.

For adults:
Introduction to Wheel Throwing – Participants will learn how to use a pottery wheel to create bowls, mugs and other clay pieces. This beginner’s class will focus on mastering crucial skills needed for more advanced pottery techniques such as centering and trimming.

Weights for Women – During this 4-week progressive class open to women of all ages, an experienced instructor will familiarize participants with weight room etiquette, teach proper free weight form and focus on working all major muscle groups. This 60-minute class has a maximum class size of eight individuals.

For kids:
Hatchling Soccer – This six-week program offers two sessions (ages 4-5 and ages 6-7) with a focus on introducing the basic elements and proper techniques to those new to soccer. Each class will include fun activities aimed at improving foot skills as well as a competitive game.

Lego Club – Lego Club encourages kids ages 9-12 to engage with their peers and stretch their imagination and creativity as they design buildings, cars and other structures based on a weekly theme.

For all ages:
Swim Lessons – From beginners to experienced swimmers, the Kroc Center provides lessons for every skill level. Certified American Red Cross Instructors make lessons fun and help students to develop swimming skills and self-confidence. Students are moved through five progressive levels of swim lessons as they accomplish new skills and abilities. At the end of a set of lessons, the instructor will recommend the appropriate level for the next set of lessons.

Stay tuned later this winter for additional classes, including pottery for kids, golf, archery lessons and more. Visit the Kroc Center’s website for details about membership or more information about classes or registration.
