Summer Fan Program Helps Older and Disabled Adults Beat the Heat

Aug 14, 2018

The Salvation Army of Omaha is busy collecting new fans for the 2018 Summer Fan Program. Summer heat can pose dangerous health consequences for the elderly, sick or disabled. This year a higher demand for fans is expected due to warmer than normal temperatures.

Fans are free of charge to qualified individuals and will be distributed through Sept. 7. Applications are available at The Salvation Army Burrows Center, 6101 NW Radial Highway. Business hours are 9-11 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Priority is given to people who are 50 years or older and those with a medical disability. Call 402-898-5860 for more information.

New fan donations are being accepted and may be dropped off during business hours at the Burrows Center throughout the summer. Monetary donations to purchase new fans are also welcome. The retail cost of a basic fan is approximately $25.
