A NEW CHAPTER FOR NORTH CORPS
The new addition to The Salvation Army North Corps Community Center (2424 Pratt St.) is now in the construction phase. Project Engineer Josh Rehn of Lueder Construction said the footings have been poured, and he and his crew are working on structural aspects of the addition.
The construction crew has also moved the cooler at North Corps, which is essential to the feeding operations at the facility. North Corps runs several food programs, including one that serves up to 150 hot lunches each weekday.
North Corps is continuing to operate during construction. Programming there includes day camps (in a limited capacity), a safe place to get respite from inclement or hot weather, and worship services.
A groundbreaking ceremony in April celebrated this $30 million expansion, renovation, and capacity-building project that will ultimately see North Corps nearly triple in size.
Check out the video below for a behind-the-scenes look at the pouring of the concrete footings for the new addition – which took place in late June.
