Hope Makes the Greatest Gifts Image

Hope Makes the Greatest Gifts

We offer support during the Christmas season for families in need.
Together, we can make sure #HopeMarchesOn.

How to give the gift of a smile

Through your continued support, we are able to come alongside families, individuals, and seniors during the holidays when it can be extra difficult. This is often the time they are reminded that they can't afford gifts, a new coat for their kids, or a special meal for Christmas Day. Remembering a loved one that has died can also bring a feeling of hopelessness during the holidays. The Salvation Army is giving people the opportunity to step up and make a difference in the lives of others who are in need.

How We Help Brighten The Holidays

Red Kettle Campaign

Whether you ring alone, or in a group with friends & family, this is the most engaging and exciting way to join our Fight For Good every Holiday Season. Our iconic Red Kettles and Bell Ringers are cornerstones of local inspiration for hope. All those that feel forgotten, lost or in need of even the smallest support are met with life changing assistance brought to life by your efforts. When you partner with your Salvation Army as a Bell Ringer, you are creating a lasting impact.

Starting in November you will see the red kettles out at stores collecting money to support the many programs we offer year round as we serve the community through food and financial assistance, ministry programs, supportive housing, drug addiction, homelessness, and more. Volunteers can sign up to ring the bell to encourage others to give, knowing every time money is dropped in the bucket their donation is being used to continue the mission of The Salvation Army in your community. This fall you will be able to sign up to ring the bells at RegistertoRing.com and choose your favorite location and available time slots that work with your schedule.

Don't have time to stand at a kettle? That's ok - you can still help! Click here to create your own Virtual Red Kettle. Compete with your friends and family, or simply 'ring the bell' online from the comfort of your home.

Angel Tree

One of the hardest choices that many families have to face is between providing their children with presents on Christmas day or, often times, shelter/food/transportation & other essentials. This can take an emotional toll and we work alongside countless local supporters to bring an end to it. By signing up for Angel Tree, families can guarantee their children don't feel forgotten this Holiday Season, thanks to the generosity of those around our community.

By donating toys and clothes during the Christmas season you can provide gifts to a specific child in need. Angel Tags are placed around the city to make it easy for you to know what the greatest need is. Each Angel Tag represents the real Christmas Wishes and needs of a child in our county. We combine the generous donations to create  Santa Bags for parents to use in order to provide a joy-filled Christmas morning for their children. Look for our Angel Tags on Christmas trees this winter, or Adopt an Angel online, to help us bring hope and joy to families this year.

Registrations for Christmas Assistance will begin in October 2022

Christmas Food Basket

Every Holiday Season is highlighted by family feasts and dinner with friends, but for those in need this can be a particularly difficult time to face food insecurity issues. The Salvation Army believes that every person deserves to have a nourishing meal for their body and soul - especially around Christmas! We offer the opportunity for families to sign up for food support in the way of a warm nutritious meal.

If you would like to register to receive a Christmas Food Basket, please call our office at (815) 433-0798.

Christmas Worship Service

Christmas is a time to spend with friends and family to share our love and appreciation for each other and for the gift of Jesus. Our church is a family! As brothers and sisters in Christ we gather together in celebration of Jesus' birthday and share in a time of inter-generational fellowship and worship. This service is family friendly, includes brunch, and will be held in our chapel at 10am on the Sunday before Christmas. We hope your family will join us!
