Proud to be Doing The Most Good

May 11, 2021

The music program offered by The Salvation Army provides area youth an opportunity to learn and grow and do good things they may not have known they could do.  Look at one fifth grader at Sterling Middle School in Peoria. She decided to join The Salvation Army’s Academy of Performance Arts (APA), held after school at Sterling. Learning keyboard made a stunning impact on her life. Not only did she grow in her music skills, but her grades also turned around from D’s and F’s to A’s and B’s! Learning music in a safe and encouraging environment also helped solidify her self-confidence and build her self-esteem.

National Salvation Army Week is a time for celebrating our organization's history, shining a light on how new people can join to support our mission, and thanking our local partners who make The Salvation Army's work possible. We take this week to showcase many things, but we want to celebrate how proud we are to serve in Peoria
