Tree of Lights Telethon 2020 Results
The Peoria area community came together in a huge way alongside The Salvation Army to help our local neighbors in need who are facing difficult life challenges this year. The Tree of Lights Annual Telethon reached many local supporters who gave donations totaling $42,180!
“We have been blessed with the support of a very caring, giving community, and because of their support, we are able to truly do the most good for those people in our community who need a hand up, whether it be because they are struggling to get out of poverty or they have been without a job because of the pandemic.” - Major Jesse Collins, Tri-County Commander
Joining the broadcast of the telethon were amazing local supporters such as the Peoria Disposal Company/Royal Coulter and the Peoria Salvation Army Advisory Board who offered to sponsor donation matches during the telethon. In addition, Michael Rieker from Peoria Tire and Vulcanizing presented a check for $10,000 from their fundraising efforts in recognition of Peoria Tire’s upcoming 100th Anniversary in Peoria.
“We would like to give a special thank you to the news team and anchors at WMBD News,” noted Major Jesse Collins. “They have truly been fantastic partners in our efforts to educate the community on the programs we provide and on how important the community’s support is in helping us do the most good to rescue Christmas.”
The money raised through The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign helps people in our community who have no place to live; who can’t afford food; or who have been out of work because of the pandemic and are struggling to make ends meet.
