GRANT BOOSTS SALVATION ARMY MEAL PROGRAM
PETOSKEY, MI, June 23, 2025 – The Salvation Army of Petoskey has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation to support its Community Meal Program. This initiative provides hot meals twice a week at the Community Center and delivers meals to over 100 mobility-impaired residents, ensuring no neighbor goes hungry.
The Community Meal Program has been a cornerstone of support for many residents, offering not just food but also warmth, conversation, and a sense of community. The program has adapted over time, to meet the growing needs of the community.
Envoy Roman Hank of The Salvation Army expressed gratitude for the grant, stating, “This generous funding will help us continue to provide essential services to our community. We are committed to ensuring that everyone has access to nutritious meals and the support they need.”
The Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation has been a long-time supporter of local initiatives, and this grant is a testament to their commitment to improving the lives of residents. The foundation's support enables The Salvation Army to reach more people and make a greater impact. Meal Program award contributions were provided by the Ann K. Irish Charitable Fund, the Erickson Family Fund, the Fund for the Community, the Bund Family Fund, the Fresh Baby Building Healthy Communities Fund and the United Way Health and Human Services Fund.
The Salvation Army of Petoskey helps many individuals and families with critical needs such as heat, food, rent, electricity and other critical needs year-round. No one applying for assistance is approved or denied services based on faith, gender, orientation, nationality or any other forms of discrimination.
