Smiles Make the Greatest Gifts

Providing physical needs such as grocery, utility and gift assistance,
to emotional experiences including holiday events and traditions.

How we help brighten the holidays

We help provide families in need with toys, gifts, and food during the holidays. If you'd like to receive help during the holidays, contact our office at 734-414-8210 or come visit us at 9451 S. Main St., Plymouth, MI 48170-4119.

The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps Community Center provided Christmas support to 250 families (365 children) in the communities of Plymouth, Northville, Canton and Belleville in 2017. Every year, the need is just as great and we cannot do it alone. By partnering with even more individuals, companies, and organizations in our community, we believe that we can do even more.

Christmas Assistance

When filling out Christmas and Thanksgiving assistance applications families will need proof of custody of children and identification for everyone in the household (State ID or Drivers license), a current letter from DHHS listing everyone in the household, school reduced lunch letters, current school IDs, social security cards, or birth certificates. We will also need the last 4 digits of social security numbers for everyone in the household. If you have questions about documentation, please call 734-453-5464 or email

We will be taking applications Tuesdays from 9 am to 11:30 am, Wednesdays from 3-5pm, and Thursdays 9 am to 11:30 am. We will be taking applications for Thanksgiving until November 11, and applications for Christmas until December 2.

Please download and fill out the Application Form and Release of Information to get started with holiday assistance.

How you can help

Our Corps Community Center offers many opportunities to be an active agent of hope in our community during the holidays. Whether it's participating in our Adopt An Angel program, donating to our food drive or toy shop, or volunteering to bell ring, there are many ways that you can help us.

Bell Ringing

If you have a few hours to spare, you can help us by becoming a volunteer bell ringer. Our volunteers are a vital part of keeping our programs and services up and running. You can sign up at

Adopt An Angel

There are families in our community that cannot afford many Christmas gifts for their children. Our Adopt An Angel program allows your family, friends, co-workers, or organization to sponsor a family in need and help bring them hope and joy during the holidays. Sponsors are sent an angel card that represents a child in need and are asked to provide at least one toy and one article of clothing for that child.

Toy Shop

Our Toy Shop gives toys and clothing to children (ages infant to 18 - must still be in high school). Teenagers are given gift cards in lieu of toys. Donations of large and small toys, any size new clothing, and gift cards valued from $10 to $25 are greatly needed.

Donations can be dropped off at our office:

Food Drive

Giving the gift of food or holding a food drive is a tangible way to make a difference in our community during the holidays. The food pantry at The Salvation Army Plymouth provides sustainable food to families and individuals within Plymouth, Northville, Canton, and Belleville. We are able to provide this valuable service to those in need due to the generous donations of our amazing supporters.
