The holidays bring added financial and emotional stress to families living in poverty.
Holiday times are tough when you can’t afford a meal or gifts. The Salvation Army helps families make the holidays bright no matter what.
The holiday season can be even tougher for families who are struggling throughout the year. The Salvation Army Holiday Dinner Box Project helps nearly 11,000 Chicago-area families every year put a Christmas dinner on the table. Each box provides a full dinner for a family of six, including an entree, potatoes and gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetables, muffins, dessert and more.
These iconic red kettles signal the start of the holiday season. Donations collected in these buckets support the services in your neighborhood. Bell ringers are both seasonal employees and volunteers. Learn more about Bell Ringing or Register to Ring now. From October 1 - January 31st, join the Fight for Good by donating through our Online Red Kettle.
When you're struggling financially to care for your family, holiday gifts are often not feasible. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program allows donors to purchase gifts and clothes for families in need, making their holidays brighter. Be an angel for a family in need this Christmas.
The Salvation Army Metropolitan Division partners with the Chicago Bears and Jewel-Osco to collect new or gently used winter coats for families. This year, our goal is to collect 25,000 coats for families in need.
The Salvation Army provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for families unable to create a special meal themselves. We host homemade dinners at our facility and provide a Christmas dinner box to struggling families. Each box feeds a family of six, and includes meat, potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, biscuits, cake mix and more. You can support this year's Holiday Dinner Box Project.
