Anderson Gardens Summer Garden Ministry Starts a Work Day Off Right

Aug 2, 2019 | by Beverly Peterson

For over 20 years, the Summer Garden Ministry at the Anderson Japanese Gardens (318 Spring Creek Rd, Rockford, IL 61107) has been a place of peace and inspiration every Tuesday morning at 7 am during the months of May - September.

The program was started by a volunteer for The Salvation Army, Sonja Beach, who now works diligently alongside her daughter,  Jodi Beach of the Jodi Beach Trio, to line up local pastors and musicians of all denominations to speak and perform during the half hour service.

The master of ceremonies, Scott Hale, a long-time Salvationist and former Marine, can be heard throughout the garden each Tuesday morning as he welcomes the crowd with his version of "Good Morning Vietnam."

"GOOOOOD MOOOORNING" incites the same response from the audience each week as they joyfully respond to Scott's welcome.

Each service is FREE including a walk through the gardens afterwards. The services continue through September.

THANK YOU to the Anderson Family for their vision of an ecumenical service in the middle of the week for all denominations to come together for worship in a beautiful, serene and relaxed setting.
