Supporting Hurricane Relief Efforts

Oct 11, 2024

The 2024 Hurricane Season has left a trail of devastation across the southern United States, impacting the lives of countless individuals. In response, The Salvation Army is working to provide essential aid, including emergency assistance, food, hydration, emotional and spiritual support, and vital supplies to both survivors and rescue workers.

The Central Territory has deployed 14 Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) personnel from the North & Central Illinois, Northern, Western, and Midland Divisions to support the Southern Territory in its relief efforts. They will be serving in the following roles:

  • Emotional Spiritual Care (7)
  • Incident Command (2)
  • Logistical Support (2)
  • Canteen Workers (3)

The teams will be stationed in Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Live Oak, Florida, for the next two weeks. Additionally, a bunkhouse and a large shipment of hydration have been expedited to the Southern Territory from the EDS warehouse in Rockford. The Rockford team is also preparing to dispatch additional supplies in the near future.

Please join The Salvation Army in making a difference. Our Central Territory EDS team has curated an Amazon wish list filled with critical supplies to support the relief efforts. Your generosity can transform lives during this challenging time. Please have your items shipped to the Gift Registry Address in Rockford, Illinois, which serves as our staging area. Our personnel will then transport those items to the appropriate location. Items on the list will be updated regularly.

As Hurricane Milton makes landfall on Florida's west coast, our EDS teams in Rockford have already begun mobilizing additional resources to assist victims. Please join us in praying for everyone impacted by these disasters.
