35 Years of Keeping our Kids Warm
This year, The Salvation Army Winnebago County Koats for Kids Program is off to a great start. A sponsorship from GreenState Credit Union will provide over 400 kids with a warm coat this winter. The need for coats coincides with data from the U.S. Census Bureau showing poverty rates continue to increase. More of our neighbors lack resources to meet basic needs including the winter clothing needed to stay warm.
As they do every fall, The Salvation Army of Winnebago County is calling on area residents to donate NEW and gently used children’s coats, snow boots, snow pants, hats, scarves, and gloves. “As temperatures fall and the beautiful colors of the season arrive, we notice rosy cheeks on children as they wait for the school bus. It breaks my heart to think of a child not having a warm coat,” said Major Monty Wandling, Winnebago County Coordinator for The Salvation Army. He added, “It is wonderful that this year a sponsorship from GreenState Credit Union will help us ensure kids that need coats get coats.”
New and gently used winter coats and outdoor gear can be dropped off from September 16-30, 2024 at GreenState Credit Union, 3963 N. Perryville Rd, Rockford, IL.
