Volunteers Needed This Holiday Season
Help brighten the holidays for families this season by volunteering at The Salvation Army of Winnebago County. By volunteering your time, you can help bring joy and warmth to families who may be going through tough times. Your support is more crucial than ever!
Volunteer at Our Christmas Headquarters
Volunteers are needed December 12–14, 2023 for various tasks, including assisting families in choosing gifts, stocking our "Toy Store," and loading Christmas toys and food boxes into cars. Different shifts are available, and we would love to have your help! Volunteers are especially needed during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Ringing The Salvation Army bell and collecting donations is a simple yet powerful way to make a difference in our community. Donations in the Red Kettle stay local—directly impacting the lives of your neighbors by helping them in times of need. When you ring the bell, you’re making change happen.
There will be red kettle locations at over 20 Winnebago County businesses from November 10, 2023 through December 23, 2023. Time slots for bell ringers are available from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays. Go to registertoring.com and get signed up today!
More Ways to Help
Adopt an Angel this Christmas
Our Angel Tree program ensures that all children (up to age 18) have a gift to open for Christmas. Please consider adopting one of the 400+ children listed on our Virtual Angel Tree website.
The website lists the age, gender and wish list of the child. We suggest spending no more than $50 per tag. If you have any questions, please call 815-972-1135.
Angel Tree donations should be dropped off before Wednesday, December 6, 2023.
Drop-Off Locations:
- Drop off at the 12-Hours of Salvation Toy Drive on December 1, 2023 at Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, 7070 Cherryvale N. Blvd. Drop-off will be available from 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Toy drop off at the Christmas Distribution Center at 5460 E. State Street in Rockford. Please call 815-972-1135 to set up a time.
