Polk County Salvation Army Response to COVID-19
Offering Hope in Times of Crisis
The Salvation Army/Serenity Home Shelter remains committed to serving during the COVID-19 crisis. We offer hope 365 days a year to those who need it most. While our world is facing this pandemic, we remain committed to meeting the needs of our community.
- Our shelter in Polk County has been provided cleaning supplies, information on keeping safe during this COVID-19 crisis and has staff actively ensuring their needs are being met. We are not closed and will continue to serve the homeless at this shelter.
- The Happy Kids Food Backpack Program continues to provide a weekly backpack to families who have signed up for the program. Some districts have seen an increase in requests for the valuable food resource and we are working hard to be able to keep up with the demand for this service. Financial donations to support the Backpack Program are needed today. We are so thankful for our districts and our numerous volunteers that help to keep this program moving forward.
- Rent and Utility assistance requests have started to come in and we anticipate a significant increase in those requests. If you are able to financially support this important resource in our community, please consider donating so we can continue to meet the needs.
The Salvation Army as always, is committed to serving those in the most need by Doing the Most Good. If you can help by sending in a financial donation today, please send it to:
