The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of July 4

Jul 1, 2022

In times of duress, we might to tempted to forget God’s goodness. Blinded by our grief and anxiety, distracted by our roiling thoughts, we can’t see His presence with us. We wonder if He has abandoned us. It’s during these times of darkness that the psalmist reminds us to look back. Our history can point the way forward, for when we ponder “the days of old,” we are reminded of all the ways God has already rescued us, all the times He has comforted us, all the instances in which He has paved the way ahead. Look back to remember that God is in the here and now.
