A Place to Call Home Image

A Place to Call Home

As St. Joseph's only homeless shelter dedicated to helping families, we provide a new start and a new path in life.

A Home with a Purpose

The Salvation Army St. Joseph Booth Center provides temporary emergency shelter for homeless families with minor children. Low-income homeless families, chronically homeless families, and those with significant vulnerabilities, housing barriers, or other special needs are targeted and prioritized for admission. The Booth Center is home to nine individual, furnished apartment units, each with separate bedrooms, bathrooms, and small kitchenettes. The total occupancy for the Center is 45 people, however, the number of residents can vary depending on the size of each family living there at any one time.

ELIGIBILITY

A family's eligibility is based on a number of factors that determine need and priority for admittance into the shelter. These factors include:

  1. Meeting HUD's definition of literal homelessness
  2. Families with children who are victims of domestic violence
  3. Families with children who suffer from chronic homelessness
  4. Those who have no other financial or housing resources

ADMISSION

  1. Families with minor children under the age of 18 who are seeking emergency shelter may make inquiries and can be screened by phone, by walk-in, or by appointment between the hours of 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday.
  2. Screening appointments and/or admissions can be scheduled outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends on a case by case basis with the shelter director’s approval.
  3. Referrals are accepted from outside agencies Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
