Low-Income families that sign up for Christmas Assistance through The Salvation Army gain access to a variety of Christmas Programs in Vigo County. Selection for these programs begin after all intake is completed. Families may be chosen to receive a gift program through one of our community partners, including the Marine's Toys for Tots, the Police Department's Shop with a Cop, Bikes for Tykes, or Catholic Charities' Christmas Store. Families may also be chosen to receive Christmas Dinner assistance through the Tribune Star or the West Vigo Community Center. Eligibility requirements vary by program and assistance is limited to no more than one gift program and one food program per household.
The Adopt-A-Family program is run by The Salvation Army. Local donors, including individuals, churches, businesses, and nonprofits, are matched with a needy family to provide specific wish list gifts, clothing, and Christmas food assistance. Donors typically find joy in shopping for a family during the Christmas season. If you are interested in adopting a family this Christmas, we prefer that you contact us by November 1.

October 15-18: 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, October 17 Also 4pm-6pm
October 22-25: 10am-12pm, 1pm-3pm, October 24 Also 4pm-6pm
*Families that sign up after October 25th will only be eligible for Toys for Tots*
