Sparkling for Christmas
The Salvation Army is an iconic symbol of Christmas and we are a little over six months out until the big day! To celebrate our favorite holiday, those iconic red kettles got a touch-up thanks to volunteers from Caterpillar, Inc. Sparkling red again, the kettles are ready to hit the streets for bell-ringing season. See for yourself when you ring at a kettle location nearby. Sign up early at Register to Ring to be a volunteer bell ringer this Christmas season.
The ‘Christmas in July’ effort was arranged through Fox Valley United Way by Volunteer Coordinator, Denise Moret. “Caterpillar has supported United Way for more than 60 years because their mission and work aligns with our values: ensuring the health, welfare and economic stability of communities where we live and work”, said Lisa M. Parker of Caterpillar. “Organizations United Way funds are vetted for excellence, selected in collaboration with communities to ensure they address priority needs and evaluated for their outcomes and impact.”
Serving Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles and Central Kane County, The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps has launched a $350,000 Christmas campaign to battle the war on poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness. Staff and volunteers are helping to meet the needs of the most vulnerable every day. That includes hard-working but struggling families who are fighting to pay rent, put food on the table, keep the lights on, and give their children a safe place to spend time after school and more. The Salvation Army is leading the fight for good and your support is essential.
