Breaking the Cycle of Addiction

Aug 22, 2019

Loaded. Plastered. Hammered. Bombed. Wasted. Strung-out. As a society, we’ve found it easy to create a lexicon of names (usually negative) for individuals who are habitually under the influence of drugs and / or alcohol – in other words, they have an addiction. What is not easy however, is empowering these same people to overcome their dependence and get their lives back.

Locally, The Salvation Army is on the leading edge of drug and alcohol rehabilitation efforts. Our two rehabilitation facilities - Turning Point Programs and the Adult Rehabilitation Center - assist individuals to overcome addictions and rebuild their lives.

Turning Point Programs has provided professional, comprehensive treatment of substance abuse disorders for nearly 50 years by offering a refuge for residents desiring to overcome active addictions. For more information regarding The Salvation Army Turning Point Programs in Michigan, please visit:

Turning Point

The Adult Rehabilitation Center has provided spiritual, social, and emotional assistance for men and women for over 100 years. Funding for The Center comes from the sale of donated goods, such as clothing, furniture and gently-used household goods. Through our drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs and a dozen other programs and services available locally, The Salvation Army exists to meet human need wherever, whenever and however we can.  With our help, instead of being labeled as loaded, plastered and hammered, lives are transformed into being whole, healthy and productive.
