Donate winter gear at ‘Winter Skolstice’ celebration at Viking Lakes
The Salvation Army is accepting donations of new hats, gloves, boots, and other winter gear Jan. 3 – Feb. 27 at the Winter Skolstice celebration at Viking Lakes in Eagan.
You can do something good while enjoying all of the fun activities at Winter Skolstice, including curling, skating, sledding, and pond hockey, and a special “Warming Haus” with food, beverages, and live music.
The Salvation Army will give your donated winter gear to local people and families who cannot afford to buy adequate clothing for themselves.
This includes families like Nadine (pictured below), a grandmother in St. Paul who is raising her six grandkids, ages 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, and 14. Last month, Nadine was thrilled to find out the Minnesota Vikings bought her and her grandkids an abundance of new winter clothes.
“My grandkids have never had anything their entire lives,” Nadine said, with tears in her eyes. “I appreciate everything the Vikings did for our family.” (Read Nadine’s story.)
Please join The Salvation Army by giving a donation or signing up to volunteer. Your help will provide food, shelter and care for people and families in desperate need.
