Giving Hearts Day: Donations matched in North Dakota on Thursday, Feb. 9
Giving Hearts Day on Thursday, Feb. 9 is North Dakota’s biggest fundraising day of the year, and it just got even more exciting: Anonymous donors have pooled $25,000 to match gifts given to any of The Salvation Army’s six locations in North Dakota on Giving Hearts Day.*

When you donate to The Salvation Army on Giving Hearts Day, your gift will provide twice the support for local families struggling to survive during the highest inflation rates in 40 years.
“Some families are being forced to choose between paying their rent or buying groceries,” said Lt. Col. Dan Jennings, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division. “We believe that nobody should have to choose.”
Your Impact
Gifts to The Salvation Army fuel our wide range of services, such as food pantries and hot meal programs that provide nourishment for thousands of families all over North Dakota.
That includes Keith, Alexandra, and their young daughter (pictured). The family recently moved from Grand Forks to Fargo, where Keith secured a job managing a restaurant.
“It’s hard for our family to make it,” admitted Keith, adding that Alexandra is actively looking for work and affordable daycare for their daughter.
The family used to rely on our food pantry in Grand Forks whenever they needed help. Now, in Fargo, they are thankful they can stop by for a free meal at the Fargo Salvation Army, which serves a hot breakfast and lunch for about 200 people every weekday.
“The Salvation Army has helped us a lot,” Keith said, while eating mashed potatoes and stew with his family at the Fargo Salvation Army. “We’re thankful for everything they’ve done for us.”
The Salvation Army thanks all of our donors for their generosity on Giving Hearts Day and throughout 2023.
“These gifts will allow The Salvation Army to change the lives of people and families in North Dakota throughout the coming year,” Jennings said.
*Matching gifts for Giving Hearts Day include $10,000 for The Salvation Army in Grand Forks and $3,000 for each Salvation Army location in Bismarck-Mandan, Fargo, Jamestown, Minot, and Williston.
