KIDS CRUISIN’ KITCHEN GETTING READY TO ROLL FOR 2023
Our Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen program is getting ready to roll for the upcoming 2023 season!
This unique mobile-feeding effort takes free, ready-to-eat lunches to kids in underserved communities around the metro area on weekdays while school is out for summer. Starting May 31, two Salvation Army canteens (food trucks) will head out from our west Omaha divisional headquarters to six different stops around town—covering North Omaha, South Omaha, midtown, northwest Omaha, Bellevue, and Ralston.
Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen fills a critical need within the community: last summer alone, the program served more than 10,200 lunches to school-age kids across the metro. Demand is expected to be high again this year.
And we couldn’t do it without our volunteers! The vast majority of personnel who serve meals from our canteens as part of the program are volunteers, freely giving their time, energy, and spirit to what is always a total team effort.
We’re grateful to everyone who makes Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen happen, year after year.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please call 402-898-6000. If your family is interested in receiving meals via this program, please keep checking back on our social media pages (see below) in the days and weeks to come—that’s where we’ll post information about stop times, weekly lunch menus, etc.
