Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen is Open
The Salvation Army’s annual mobile-food-service program known as Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen has officially started for the 2024 season.
Summer can be a hard time for families who experience food insecurity, meaning they do not consistently know where they will obtain their next meal. Up to 75% of children attending the Omaha Public Schools receive free or reduced-price lunches, and when school is not in session, these children might otherwise have to skip a meal.
Fortunately, The Salvation Army is there to help children in need all over Omaha. This is the first full week for the Kids Cruisin’ Kitchen mobile canteens (food trucks), which started May 29. The service will be in operation each weekday through Aug. 2, with the exception of June 19 and July 4-5. Children ages 18 and under can receive a free meal, which must be eaten on-site.
