Last chance to give, as $700k shortfall looms
Time is running out to give to The Salvation Army this Christmas season.
All of The Salvation Army’s Red Kettles will vanish on Saturday, Dec. 23. Please donate to the next kettle you see, or give to our annual $1 Million Community Challenge Match, which aims to raise an additional $1 million by Dec. 31.
Giving is crucial right now, as Christmas donations are currently lagging behind last year’s pace by nearly $700,000.
“Everyone is being challenged by tighter budgets this year,” said Lt. Colonel Randall Polsley, leader of The Salvation Army Northern Division, which serves Minnesota and North Dakota. “The struggling individuals and families we serve are challenged by price hikes to essentials like food, rent, gas, and utilities, as well as increases in unemployment.”
Your gifts will help people like Orlando, an 85-year-old man who was homeless for two years. Thanks to your gifts, he now lives in Minneapolis at a Salvation Army housing complex for senior citizens.
“After two years on the streets, this place is a miracle for me,” Orlando said. (Read the full story about Orlando.)
Here are three easy ways to give:
- Donate online
- Call our Development Team at 651-746-3491 during business hours
- Mail a check to The Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Ave. N., Roseville, MN 55113
The Salvation Army and the people we serve are grateful for your gift of any amount.
“Thank you for supporting The Salvation Army,” Polsley said. “We know this community is among the most generous in the nation, by steadfastly supporting our work here for 135 years.”

This holiday season, The Salvation Army is calling on all of our supporters to Love Beyond. #LoveBeyond is a national Salvation Army campaign that encourages people to put love above all else, in order to show families in need that love exists beyond their most difficult situations – be it hunger, overdue bills, eviction, addiction, and other hardships. Join us by giving a donation, signing up to volunteer, or ringing bells at a Red Kettle.
