May our lives be right with God
By Major Paula Pyle, Officer of the Parkview Salvation Army in North Minneapolis
As we enter the month of May, some people look forward to spring showers to help their gardens flourish. On the other hand, some are worried that the rains could lead to storms and flooding, bringing an early start to the hurricane season.
It is hard to predict what the weather may be because it changes every day. Sometimes, the forecasters may be right. Other times, they may be wrong.
God has promised, however, to be with us in every storm or challenge we may face in every area of our lives. We don’t know what each day may bring, but God is our guide, protector, provider, healer, savior and faithful friend.
Our friends, colleagues, family members, and others may fail us. But Jesus never fails. He is a friend who sticks closer than anyone. Proverbs 18:24 says, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”
We need to live positive, spiritual, healthy lives every day because we don’t know whose life we may influence for good. May our lives be right with God so others can see His love shining through us. May each moment of each day count.
May these verses speak peace and hope into our lives:
- Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good work, and glorify your Father in Heaven.”
- John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but shall have Everlasting Life.”
- Romans 15:13: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
May God’s blessings surround you always!
