Mystery box at Mall of America reveals The Salvation Army’s new national campaign
Mall of America shoppers witnessed a peculiar sight on Valentine's Day: A huge black box, adorned with a big red heart on two sides and a red curtain in front.
Curiosity got the better of countless shoppers who stopped to ask what was in the box. All were invited to step inside, where they discovered a touching video about The Salvation Army’s new “Love Beyond” campaign, along with facts about how The Salvation Army serves people all year long.
Those who entered the box were later asked what they discovered.
“In a nutshell, love,” one shopper said.
Another replied, “Love means caring about someone or something. Being selfless. Thinking about other people.”
Love Beyond is a national campaign that encourages people to put love above all else in order to show families in need that love exists beyond their most difficult situations – be it hunger, loneliness, addiction, overdue bills, and other hardships.
“We must love beyond just Christmas,” Lt. Col. Dan Jennings said during a story by 5 Eyewitness News. “The Salvation Army provides love and care and support for people throughout the year. We’re trying to emphasize that with this new initiative.”
Additional "Love Beyond" mystery boxes popped up on Valentine's Day in Dallas, Texas; Seattle, Wash.; and New York City.
