Just Like Family
A recent letter written by a Pathway of Hope participant to The Salvation Army of Traverse City:
“I can’t believe it’s been a year already since we first met and you extended the opportunity to participate in the Pathway of Hope program. There have been so many things that have changed and drastically improved for my family and I since that day because of you and the program. My daughters and I are eternally grateful to you and Salvation Army POH. There are not enough words to even come close to expressing our level of appreciation and how many areas you positively impacted in our life. I am mentioning some of those ways below. However, the difference is definitely greater than this letter and list could possibly reflect;
- My severe life-threatening health situation (huge impact to help reduce my stress, anxiety as well as constant worry and fear). Mental Health support with counseling spiritual guidance, advising, providing compassion, encouragement, understanding, empathy and additional options for help for my girls and I, both from you and with outside therapists.
- Strategy or life planning, goal setting and tracking progress and accountability (even as simple as helping me to prioritize the next steps when it was hard to even get thru a day. We have accomplished a wonderful, much happier & healthier, extremely improved self-sufficient financial and emotional stability with minimal crisis concerns. Hallelujah!!)
- Educational support – programs and resources for myself and my daughters (utility assistance, rent assistance, tutoring, youth educational specialist, counseling, credit and budgeting, habitat for humanity program enrollment
Patty, we have grown to adore you and consider you an important part of our family. You reached out your hand to us when we needed help so desperately, and we are eternally grateful and forever changed for the better!”
