Racine-Area Salvation Army and Fisk Johnson Partner for Annual Red Kettle Campaign to Support Underserved Communities
Fisk Johnson to Provide a 2x Match on Donations at Area Red Kettles on Saturday, December 12
RACINE, Wis., December 10, 2020 – For 129 years, the Red Kettle Campaign has been ringing bells throughout the holiday season spurring joy and giving across communities. While many associate the sound of those signature bells with the holidays, the Racine Salvation Army uses the funds year-round to serve the more than 10,000 community members who receive assistance annually.
Once again, Fisk Johnson, the Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson, will provide a 2x match on donations received on Saturday, December 12, tripling the giving power of each dollar dropped in the 16 kettle locations in the Racine community. For nearly a decade, together Fisk Johnson and SC Johnson have supported the Red Kettle Campaign, totaling more than $200,000 in donations since 2012. Last year, $36,000 was given in match donations.
“In light of all of the obstacles that the Racine community, and the world, have faced this year, I hope the 2x match will inspire people who can give to go out and donate on Saturday,” said Fisk Johnson. “Last year, we set a one-day donation record on our match day, building opportunity year-round for a community that means so much to us all, and we hope to achieve that again this year.”
The 2019 Red Kettle Campaign raised over $290,000 for the community. Due to the record number of donations over the last four years, the Salvation Army has been able to support the Racine area in many ways, including stocking the food pantry, sending children to camp, the healthy kids dinner, helping to support the kids weekend food sacks program and much more.
“We’re thankful to once again have Fisk matching a day of donations,” said Jeffery Russell – Commanding Officer, Racine-area Salvation Army Corps. “His and SC Johnson’s ongoing commitment to the community helps us to provide kids with coats, fight to cure hunger, and help some of our most vulnerable overcome poverty.
