Salvation Army to open new Family Store in Blaine
Grand Opening scheduled for March 21; store will be Twin Cities’ largest
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Salvation Army will open its newest Family Store on Saturday, March 21 with a Grand Opening event featuring special merchandise offers, a visit from Blaine Mayor Tom Ryan, giveaways, and more. A ribbon cutting ceremony with Ryan will take place at 8:45 a.m., with shopping opening at 9 a.m. Free refreshments will be served from a Salvation Army mobile kitchen.
The new Family Store is located at 170 89th Ave. N. in Blaine, just across Highway 10 from Northtown Mall. The store will be the largest and most modern store of all The Salvation Army’s 10 Twin Cities locations, with 33,000 square feet of space and up to 40 new jobs.
“We’re very excited to open our newest and biggest store for the Blaine community,” said Envoy Tom Canfield, who manages all Twin Cities Family Stores. “We’ll have an outstanding assortment of both brand-new items as well as donated items.”
Canfield is also the director of the Adult Rehabilitation Center, a Salvation Army facility in downtown Minneapolis that provides free programming for up to 90 men wrestling with chemical or alcohol addiction. All proceeds from local Family Stores support the rehabilitation center.
“People may not realize when they donate their used clothing and household items to The Salvation Army, they’re actually helping people overcome the scourge of addiction,” Canfield said. “Plus, they’re breathing new life into items in their house that might otherwise just get thrown away.”
Merchandise at the new store will include clothing and shoes for the entire family, household items, electronics, furniture, jewelry, appliances and more. In addition, MyPillow CEO and Salvation Army supporter Mike Lindell is donating 100 signed copies of his new book, What Are the Odds? From Crack Addict to CEO, which tells the story of his own battle with addiction. Books will be given away to the first 100 grand opening shoppers.
