THE SALVATION ARMY ASSISTING RESIDENTS DISPLACED IN APARTMENT BUILDING COLLAPSE
DAVENPORT, Iowa (May 31, 2023)—The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities Area continues its efforts to assist those displaced in the holiday weekend collapse of ‘The Davenport’ apartment building.
Local Salvation Army representatives started their efforts by setting up ways for displaced residents to get clothing, food, and hygiene items. The organization’s main food pantry, located at 100 Kirkwood Blvd. in Davenport, is open to serve them; personal hygiene items are also being distributed at that same location. While there at the 100 Kirkwood Blvd. facility, residents can also pick up vouchers for clothing.
Additionally, Salvation Army teams in the Quad Cities are helping those displaced in the collapse find new places to live. People needing assistance with this are encouraged to call 563-324-4808; staff are ready to provide support.
What’s more, The Salvation Army of the Quad Cities Area is set to be part of a Multi-Agency Relief Center (MARC) this coming weekend. This effort, which starts Saturday morning, will see several area social services agencies and governmental agencies join forces under one roof, allowing displaced residents the opportunity to receive a full spectrum of assistance from a wide variety of organizations—all in the same place.
The Salvation Army is taking in donations to support its ongoing relief efforts. Donations of furniture and other household items (mattresses excluded) can be taken to The Salvation Army facility at 4001 N. Brady St. in Davenport. Those wishing to make a monetary donation—which will go toward services such as rental assistance for displaced residents—can do so by clicking the button below.
