In July 2023, The Salvation Army Great Lakes Division was awarded a $500,000 grant from the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA).
The funding will be used to assist families in need with energy-efficient home repairs and upgrades in Hillsdale and the counties of Luce, Chippewa and Mackinaw through the Michigan Housing Opportunities Promoting Energy-Efficiency (MI-HOPE) Program.
“MI-HOPE is a federally funded program utilizing the American Rescue Funds (COVID funds). $28.5 million dollars have been made available state-wide. With the assistance of a select and dedicated group of government entities and non-profits like The Salvation Army, the grant dollars will be dispersed throughout the State” said Neighborhood Housing Initiative Division representative Pierre-Denise Gilliam.
