The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of January 16
Whether or not we realize and acknowledge it, God has a plan for each of us.
This plan can include many different things and impact us in many different ways. The key to recognizing it is being open to new things – to change, to learning and to growing as a person and child of God.
But how do we know what that plan looks like or how we can adapt it to our lives? It’s a logical question. For many of us, without a written or verbal laid-out explanation, understanding that plan can be difficult.
This is where faith comes in to lead us in the right direction. Each January offers us a chance for renewal – an opportunity to change, make resolutions, commit to life improvements or dedications – whatever we need and want to start the year strong and positively.
When we veer from that plan – that path – we begin to question ourselves. Giving into temptation or losing heart early can lead to disappointment and self-doubt because we didn’t stay vigilant in our efforts to change or do whatever we intended in the new year.
What we need to remember when this happens is that it’s not the end of our plans – nor is it the end of God’s plan. It’s really just another step along the journey to wherever we’re intended to go and grow as the year progresses.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
