The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of March 20
In 1 John 4:7, John explains how true, godly love in a person's life is a sign of being born again.
His words tell us that those of us who truly love God will act on that love toward other people. He tells us that whoever doesn’t show love has no fellowship with God. Love is something God showed us first, by sending Christ to show us the meaning of love in dying for our sins.
In the verse, Jesus speaks to a Samaritan woman who is drawing water from a well. He confronts her about her sins but also comforts her with the truth of the gospel.
He explains that even though He knows her sins, He still looks after her and those like her.
The woman returns to town, eventually bringing many people to meet Jesus.
What does this all mean for us in our daily as well as spiritual lives? Love guides us in our decisions, interactions, compassion and deliverance.
Without God’s love, can we truly love others? Some will say yes. But ultimately, His love is a guide for us to know how to love others.
