The Weekly Word - A Devotion for the Week of November 20
God teaches us by leading and guiding us in His truth.
We are faced with numerous choices and decisions in our lives. In a world that bombards us with diverse and conflicting opinions, we may find ourselves at a crossroads, uncertain about the right way to go. We must seek God’s truth because His truth is unwavering, unchanging, and a reliable guide in the midst of life’s uncertainties.
Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” God’s truth is not just a set of principles; it is a living and active force that can transform our hearts and minds; it is our guide. As we navigate the challenges of our lives, let us be intentional in seeking God’s guidance.
The Psalmist also expresses a desire to be taught by the Lord. Having a teachable spirit requires humility and a willingness to learn. We must set aside our preconceived notions and be open to the lessons God wants to teach us. As we seek His guidance, let us be attentive to His voice, allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth within the Scriptures.
The end of this verse is a declaration of faith: “for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long.” God is not just a guide or a teacher; He is our Savior, and our hope is anchored in Him. In our world of fleeting hopes and temporary solutions, God stands as our unchanging and eternal source of hope.
God will faithfully lead us on a path of righteousness and fill our lives with the assurance of His salvation.
