Two Ways to Support The Salvation Army’s Love Beyond Hunger Food Drive
It’s no secret that inflation is impacting families throughout the metro – particularly those with the greatest need. This is especially true when they go to the grocery store.
That’s why WOWT 6 News is joining forces with The Salvation Army for the Love Beyond Hunger Food Drive March 1-26.
There are two ways you can participate:
- Donate online at salarmyfooddrive.org anytime during the run of the drive.
- On Thursday, March 23, drop off nonperishable food items in-person at the NP Dodge parking lot at 8701 W. Dodge Rd. between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
All monetary donations and nonperishable food item donations will go to The Salvation Army’s Burrows Center for Help and Hope (6101 NW Radial Hwy.) food pantry, which has seen a steep increase in demand.
Last year was very busy for the Burrows Center, which is our metro-area “one-stop shop” for things like food pantry assistance and utility-bill assistance.
And it just got busier as the year progressed. In fact, the Burrows Center saw 33% more people come in seeking help during the last half of 2022 than it did in the first half of the year. Year-to-year, demand for food jumped 9.5% between 2021 and 2022.
And now, as 2023 unfolds, demand continues to be high. Please consider donating during this very important drive to make sure our community doesn’t go hungry.
We thank you!
