TCC awards grant to help The Salvation Army's summer youth camp programs
The Salvation Army of Vincennes has received a $5,000 community grant from TCC to help underwrite the cost of sending local children to week-long summer camps at Hidden Falls Camp near Bedford, IN. This grant, provided through the Verizon retailer's TCC Gives program, was made possible through the support of the team at the TCC store in Vincennes.
“I am excited that the Vincennes Salvation Army was chosen for our grant!" shared Stephanie Killion, District Sales Manager with TCC. "I have been blessed to be able to volunteer there for years! I have seen firsthand how they help families. Thank you all for what you do for our community!”
The Salvation Army of Vincennes helps families who cannot afford a traditional summer camp experience for their children by providing access to camp programs during the months of June and July. Families pay just $20 for their child to attend fun camps designed for different age groups and interests. While it costs The Salvation Army around $400 per camper to provide a week-long camp, this cost is not passed along to families and is covered by generous donations and grants.
"After an amazing Christmas season working alongside Stephanie, we are beyond excited for the opportunity to show what we can do during the summer—and it’s all thanks to the team at TCC!" said Captain Joey Gates with The Salvation Army. "Their generosity and partnership are making it possible for kids in our community to experience camp, some for the very first time."
The Salvation Army's 700-acre Hidden Falls Camp offers at-risk and low-income children from across Indiana the chance to just be a kid and participate in a wide variety of fun summer camp activities, from spending a week in a log cabin with their bunkmates to conquering a high ropes course, trying out archery, or learning how to swim.
"The impact of this opportunity is immeasurable," Captain Joey continued. "Camp is a place where children build confidence, create lifelong memories, and discover new possibilities. Because of TCC, more kids will get to explore, learn, and grow in a safe and fun environment. Their support is truly changing lives, and we are so grateful to have them as a partner in this mission."
The Salvation Army's summer camp programs are made possible through public support and are open to children in every Indiana county. To learn more, visit HiddenFallsCamp.org.
